CSU - Schoettler Scholarship for Visually Impaired Students

Program Description and Benefits: 

The Dale M. Schoettler Scholarship was established in 1991 to support visually impaired CSU students by Mr. Schoettler, a successful California businessman, who was blind during the last eight years of his life. Thirty-six scholarships of $10,000 each are awarded each academic year. SF State may nominate as many candidates as it would like for consideration for this award.

Application Process: 

1. Fill out a Schottler Application for Visually Impaired Students on the CSU Foundation Systemwide Scholarships site.

2. The CSU Foundation will reach out to SF State's Disability Programs and Resource Center (DPRC) to verify the applicant is registered with the DPRC for a visual limitation. 

Eligibility: 

CSU undergraduate or graduate students in any discipline with a medically verified visual disability, who are enrolled in at least 6.1 units in a degree-seeking program, and have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.8.

Those who have previously been nominated or awarded the Schoettler scholarship may reapply each year they meet the qualifications.

Obligations: 

Awardees must maintain a minimum 2.8 GPA, and be enrolled in a minimum of 6.1 units in a degree-seeking program during the academic year in which the award is received,

Citizenship: 

No citizenship requirements are associated with this program.

Program Deadline: 

Applications are accepted on a year-round basis.
