CSU - Lahey Art Education and Visual Arts Scholarship

Program Description: 

The CSU offers one $10,000 scholarship each year to a CSU student pursing a high school single subject teaching credential in the arts, or if no students in this area apply, to an MFA or MA student in one of the visual arts specializations.

Application Process: 

For SF State students, applications include: (1) An Applicant Information Form; (2) a brief Personal Statement describing the student's background, personal achievements; community service, including a commitment to arts education or to community arts organizations; goals and aspirations for the future; (3) Two recommendations from faculty who can certify the student's enrollment in a qualifying program at SF State, and intention to contribute to arts education in the schools or to visual arts; (4) an email from Financial Aid indicating the student's Cost of Attendance; (5) a completed Application Checklist.

Eligibility: 

Eligible SF State applicants will be: (1) Enrolled at SF State at least half-time; (2) have a bachelor's degree in art or in one of the visual arts specializations; (3) be enrolled in one of the following programs: (a) First priority will be given to students enrolled in a program leading to a single subject teaching credential in the arts; (b) Second priority will be given to students enrolled in a graduate program in art or one of the visual arts specializations; (c) Third priority will be given to eligible students who have a record of volunteer activities in the arts or who are currently engaged in arts volunteer activities in schools or community arts organizations. Note: If there are nominees in the first priority, SF State is asked not to send other nominees from the second or third priorities.
