Program Description:
Worldstudio AIGA (formerly an acronym for the "American Institute of Graphic Arts") Scholarships to minority and economically disadvantaged students studying design and arts disciplines – including fine art, graphic design, illustration, interactive design, and photography – in colleges and universities in the U.S. Among the scholarships’ primary aims are to increase diversity in the creative professions and to foster social and environmental responsibility in the artists, designers and studios of tomorrow. Scholarship recipients are selected not only for their ability and need, but also for their demonstrated commitment to positive change in the larger community through their work. Basic scholarships are $2,000–$3,000. One or two top awards may be given in an amount up to $5,000. Each award is paid directly to the recipient’s school and applied toward tuition. Honorable mention prizes in the amount of $500 cash are also awarded. Prior winners may reapply. U.S. citizens and permanent residents only.
