Scholarships Search Strategy

Scholarship information provided by SF State:

  • Search the SF State Financial Aid Scholarships website:
    • by keyword
    • for scholarships available to students in most majors (scroll down for a brief list of scholarships due this semester)
    • for campus scholarships—by college
    • for SF State's comprehensive database of scholarships administered by the university through AcademicWorks

Check with your college and department for scholarships they sponsor not listed elsewhere.

SF State's Department of Foreign Languages and Literature maintains a list Scholarships for Foreign Language Majors.

Other Scholarship Resources

  • Michigan State University Library maintains a comprehensive database of Grants for Individuals. Many of these are fellowships, and some are only for Michigan State students. But overall, it’s a great resource.
  • CUNY also offers a comprehensive Scholarships Database; some of the opportunities it lists are restricted to local students, but most are for students throughout the country.

International Students and Undocumented/DACA/AB540 Students

  • For lists of scholarships open to AB540/undocumented students or of scholarships without citizenship requirements, see Educators for Fair Consideration's Scholarship Lists for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as SF State’s Financial Aid website’s page dedicated to AB540 Scholarships.
  • See also, Educators for Fair Consideration’s New American Scholars Program, which provides financial awards and support services to low-income immigrant undergraduate and graduate students who live or attend school in the San Francisco Bay Area
