This scholarship is offered in honor of Dr. Anita Borg who devoted her life to revolutionizing technology and dismantling barriers that keep women and minorities from computing and technology fields. Her technical expertise and fearless vision inspires a $10,000 scholarship aimed at encouraging female undergraduate and graduate students to excel in these fields, and to become active role models and leaders. Finalists receive $1,000 award. Because a supportive peer network is vital to student success, recipients and finalists are invited to 3-day Scholars Retreat at Google headquarters that includes workshops, speakers, panelists, breakout sessions, and social activities. Anita Borg scholars and finalists are joined by Google scholars and finalists in the following Google Scholarship Programs: United Negro College Fund Scholars, Hispanic College Fund Scholars, and American Indian Science & Engineering Society. Female juniors and graduate students enrolled in computer science, computer engineering, and closely related fields are eligible to apply. The scholarship is open to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and international students. Deadline is usually in the Spring.
